Catherine, the daughter of mentally-ill Robert, a recently deceased mathematical genius and university professor, struggles with rela­tionships and her fears of following in her father's footsteps mathematically and mentally in this drama about faith, hope and love. The story focuses on a paradigm-shifting theory about prime numbers found in Robert's office after his death by his ex-graduate student Hal. As Catherine and Hal try to prove Robert's authorship of the theory, they learn while life is often based on provable facts, a leap of faith is also often necessary. Winner in 2001 of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Tony Award for Best Play and New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play
