WHO WE ARE
TIPPING POINT THEATRE is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit theatre operating under a Small Professional Theatre Agreement with the Actor’s Equity Association in a charming, intimate theatre in Northville, Michigan.
MISSION
We celebrate live theatre by producing a wide range of vibrant, diverse, thought-provoking programming, promoting local and upcoming artists, and providing arts educational outreach to the Northville community and southeast Michigan.
VISION
We strive to be a place where diverse artists and audiences come together to recognize the familiar and explore the unknown - encouraging human connection, conversation and a sense of belonging.
VALUES
Not every story or experience is joyful, but joy is at the core of “how,” and “why” we do our work.
Tipping Point Theatre is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and excellence not only on the page, but in our practices - casting, staff, and the selection of stories that we share on the stage.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, and INCLUSION
Tipping Point Theatre is dedicated to creating a safe, equitable, and inclusive workplace. We embrace the plethora of cultures, identities, intersectionality, and experiences among our staff, performers, artists, associates, and community.
We recognize that there are myriad forms of oppression: systemic racism, sexism, etc. that are deeply ingrained in American culture and thus, American theatre. As an Equity theatre, we are committed to AEA guidelines and procedures to protect the well-being of our artists and this encompasses Diversity & Inclusion.
TPT recognizes the historic lack of representation on Michigan and American stages. To put oneself on a stage and/or be an active participant in a community can take a great amount of bravery. Tipping Point acknowledges that joining our community may take such courage, however, we are dedicated to supporting all members and working toward creating a safe space together.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Tipping Point Theatre is located in Northville, MI. This area is the ancestral homeland of the Meškwahki·aša·hina (Fox), Mississauga, Anishinabewaki, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Wyandot, and Peoria. This land acknowledgment does not supplant any vital conversations with our indigenous communities, rather it serves as a way of honoring the land on which we sit. Theatres are sacred spaces, full of spirit, life, stories, and connection. We pay our respects to these indigenous peoples and we are dedicated to caring for this space and for the Northville and greater Michigan community for generations to come.
