ABOUT
Babe Magrath has shot her senator husband in the stomach and doesn't want to tell her lawyer why in this black comedy of family strife that won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1981 New York Drama Critics' Award for Best American Play. Sisters Meg and Lenny - who have issues of their own - join Babe at Old Granddaddy's home in Hazlehurst, Mississippi to cope with the latest incident disrupting their thoroughly dysfunctional lives. Old resentments come out, quirky relatives appear and each sister is forced to face the consequences of the "crimes of the heart" she has committed. The result is a funny journey through their struggles, their rivalries and ultimately their bonds.
